big changes...

It's been quite a while since we've shared anything.  Well, I had some really big changes in 2010...so big that I took some time off to get settled.  Let me bring you up to speed!

First - Big Move!

While on vacation on Maui in December of 2009, my husband (who works for The Home Depot) learned that they had just posted a position for an Assistant Store Manager at the Maui Store.  Being that his dream has always been to live in Hawaii, I knew immediately that we'd be making the move. Mind you, it was a completely unplanned move.  That meant that I would need to stay behind to take care of our move:

  • Sell the house
  • Get the dogs through the quarantine process
  • Pack up and ship all of our belongings
  • Move in with some gracious friends who let me crash with them until we moved
  • Move myself and tree dogs to Maui on November 6, 2011

Not only was this a big move for us personally, this was going to be a major change for my business.  I had built an awesome network with the most amazing wedding professionals and we had built a really strong client base in Dallas.  Starting completely over was a pretty overwhelming task.

Second - Big Wedding!

So, on top of the big move, our wedding was scheduled for October 9!!  If  you've ever been a bride, you can understand how stressful it would be to learn that you are moving 3000 miles away a mere 8 months from your wedding date.  Especially when you're partner in crime has already made the move.  Luckily, I had the most amazing team of industry partners working with me.

After such a turbulent year, I made the decision to take a a bit of a hiatus.  I've used this year to get to know my new home, take on some big remodeling projects in our new condo and spend some quality time with my husband.  While it has been nice and relaxing, I am ready to introduce Hawaii to The Event Messenger!! Stay tuned as we share news of our new adventure...

the story of...the polka dot party invite

These were the first baby shower invitations I ever designed.  My client, Cindy, sent me pictures of the paper goods they found to use at the party.  They were super cute - tons of polka dots!!  I especially love the way the envelopes turned out.

hey...who's got the clicker??

If you're looking for a totally fun way to get pics of guests at your next event, you HAVE to call the very happy people at Smilebooth!!  It's different than a regular photo booth in that you control the "clicker" that controls teh camera...well, you do as long as your not in the booth with Lisa Aceves from The Wedding Party Studio.  She's the QUEEN of the Smilebooth and is why we always get such funny candid shots!!  :)

And my favorite of the night...nothing like a little bridal cat-fight!!

It's loads of fun and as you can see by these pics and you can change up the background to fit your affair!!  THEN...once the event is over, you'll get an email letting you know al of the pics from the evening are available online!!  You can download free low-res versions or buy the high-res for printing purposes!

bella of the ball!

I met the most amazing young woman at a recent wedding show.  Her name is Jamie Pickerell and she is the creative genius behind Posta Bella!!  At the event, Jamie was doing 5 minute water color sketches of women's wedding rings.  Here is the sketch she did for me!!

Sketches like this one are a part of Posta Bella's custom art and illustrations options. Anything from portraits of your home to custom illustrations for your wedding invitations can be ordered quickly and easily.  She recently added new option - live event painting!!  She'll attend an event (like a wedding) and will paint during the event.  So cool!!

Finally, she has pre-made designs that are ready for purchase right now!!

I'm so glad I had the chance to meet Jamie and can't find an opportunity to work with her!

the story of...brooke and josh

This simple, traditional wedding invitation was created for my friend Brooke.  I've known Brooke since 2004 - we met through our involvement in the Dallas Junior Chamber of Ccommerce.  To make the story even more interesting...Josh is my fiancés nephew (by marriage).  Wait, it get's better...Brooke and Josh actually met at our house warming back in 2007!!  Crazy!!  I was so excited to be a part of their wedding as well!
